Sam McCurdy
Sam is a Chartered Engineer and a roads specialist who has over 35 years of experience in design, construction, operation and maintenance of major highways, working for a range of clients. Prior to returning to Ireland in 2005, Sam spent 5 years as the Roadworks Maintenance Engineer at the Tsing Ma Control Area in Hong Kong. For 8 years, as a statutory Director of Halcrow Barry, he oversaw the delivery of over €1 billion worth of Ireland’s and Northern Ireland's inter-urban motorway network. He is a road maintenance specialist and author of the pavement life cycle design guides for Ireland and the Hong Kong pavement design manual. He is a recognised international expert in whole life pavement forecasting. He is also an expert on performance-based contracting and has worked on behalf of both O&M contractors and clients. |
Áine Walsh
Áine is a civil engineer with over 20 years’ international experience in geotechnical design, project management, structural and civil design, environmental and quality. Áine has acted as project manager and principal geotechnical design engineer on a number of road projects in both Ireland and the United Kingdom at both tender and detailed design stage. Following graduation from University College Dublin in 1995, Áine worked as a structural/ civil engineer, gaining extensive experience in steel, concrete, masonry and timber design along with drainage analysis. She has worked on a number of international commercial projects with difficult ground conditions and has extensive experience in ground improvement and pile design. |
Aoife Quinn
Aoife has almost a decade of experience working on multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional Irish and pan-European projects. She is trained in the use of HDM-4 and has developed and reviewed multi-annual pavement cost models for the secondary market in the UK and Spain. She has experience with pavement recycling and reusing road construction materials, particularly reclaimed asphalt. She has prepared Pavement Asset Repair and Renewal Reports in accordance with AM-PAV-06050-01 (NRA HD31) and is experienced in pavement design, site supervision and project management. Aoife is skilled in the preparation and review of Operation and Maintenance Manuals and Pavement Cost Models. She is currently undertaking a PhD at University College Dublin and expects to complete in Spring 2019. |
