We have recently returned from a trip to Kazakhstan where we oversaw the mobilisation of the Data Collection Consultant for the Asian Development Bank’s Road Maintenance Sustainability Project. The work is being undertaken by a Joint Venture of Studi e Pianificazione del Territorio S.r.l. (SPT) and Kazdornii, the Kazakhstan Highway Research Institute. The assignment includes the technical and mechanical surveys of over 1000km of roads in Kostanay Oblast. The information from these surveys will be used to provide a baseline for the Performance Based Road Maintenance Contracts, which are currently being prepared, and will provide detailed inputs for the design of pavement life cycle treatments. The data collected will also be used in the HDM-4 economic analysis for the project. It is expected that the surveys will be completed by the end of September 2017.
I visited the Castlefarm access road today at the Dairygold milk processing plant. The rehabilitated access road looked splendid in the cold winter weather and I enclose a photograph of the completed project which includes a new pavement and footpath. We are pleased to have acted as Engineers on behalf of Dairygold for this project which was constructed by Martin O’Callaghan Contractors Ltd.
We are delighted that we have been appointed by the Asian Development Bank to support the Road Maintenance Sustainability Project. This project will lead to the development of performance based road maintenance contracts throughout Kazakhstan. The initial site visit and inspection of around 1400km of roads was completed in October 2016 and we are now helping to develop the scope of the road testing programme and developing the performance based contract for Kostanay Oblast. Further details on the project is available from the ADB web site at https://lnkd.in/e_HS4t7.
